How many days do you have left?

How long you can stay depends on your passport: 90 days for most, 90 in any 180 for much of Europe, 30 or 60 for some. Pick yours and check where you stand.

Based on the Brazilian Foreign Ministry's official visa table (QGRV, March 2026). Your entry stamp or visa is what counts; extensions must be requested before your stay expires.

Why we started Ficar

We were in your shoes.

We came to Brazil as visitors and decided to stay. We got our residency from inside the country: the online forms, the Federal Police appointments, the apostilles, the translations, the "volte amanhã".

It took far longer than it should have, mostly because nobody explained it clearly in English or Spanish. Ficar is the help we wished we'd had: one person who knows the process, one fixed price, and no guesswork.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Are you a law firm?

No. Ficar is a relocation and paperwork service: we prepare applications, check documents, book appointments and keep things moving. We don't give legal advice. If your situation needs a lawyer, we'll tell you.

Do my documents need a sworn translation?

Usually yes. Foreign documents generally need an apostille in the country that issued them, plus a sworn translation (tradução juramentada) into Portuguese by a translator registered with a Brazilian Junta Comercial. Some exceptions exist, for example under certain Mercosur agreements. Your checklist tells you exactly which documents need what.

Do I have to be in Brazil?

It depends on the route. Some visas are requested at a Brazilian consulate abroad, others are filed inside Brazil. Registering with the Federal Police (RNM) after arrival is in person, and we prepare you for that appointment.

How long does it take?

It varies by route and by the authority handling it, from a few weeks for some visas to many months for some residency types. You get a realistic estimate with your quote.

What happens to my documents?

They're stored privately, shared only with the people working on your case, and deleted after your case closes, in line with Brazil's data protection law (LGPD).

Is this legal advice?

No. The information on this page is general and rules change. We work from the official requirements published by the Brazilian government, and recommend a lawyer for complex cases.
