Chapadão — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 August 2026

Chapadão does not collect, transmit or store any personal information.

There is no account, no login, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking SDK of any kind.

What stays on your device

All of the following is written only to your own iPhone and never leaves it:

Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no server-side copy, because there is no server holding your data.

What leaves your device

Only anonymous forecast requests, and only to fetch weather data.

Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — the app requests wave, wind and tide data for three fixed coordinates in Pipa, Rio Grande do Norte. Those coordinates are hard-coded in the app; your location is never requested, accessed or sent. The app does not use Location Services at all. Open-Meteo receives the request, but no identifier of you beyond the standard network metadata that any web request carries.

Place lookup (optional, off by default) — if you enter a SerpAPI key or a proxy URL in Settings, the app requests nearby restaurants and bars around those same fixed Pipa coordinates. This only happens if you configure it. Again, no personal data is sent and your device's location is not used.

Apple Maps opens in a separate app when you tap a place; anything you do there is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.

Children

The app collects nothing from anyone, including children. It is rated 4+.

Your rights

Since no personal data is collected, there is nothing to request access to, correct, or delete on our side. Under the LGPD (Brazil) and the GDPR (EU), no data controller relationship arises from your use of this app.

Safety

Chapadão is a forecast tool, not a safety device. Surf forecasts are model estimates and can be wrong. Always look at the ocean yourself, know your own limits, and never rely on this app alone when deciding to enter the water.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
