Bichinho — Support

Bichinho is a virtual pet that lives in real time. It keeps eating, sleeping, growing — and needing you — while the app is closed, like the keychain pets of the 90s.

Looking after it

  1. Hatch it. The egg opens after about a minute. Tap it to hurry.
  2. The newborn hour. For its first hour it wants feeding every few minutes, poops constantly and never sleeps. After that, things calm down a lot.
  3. Feed it when it's hungry (a meal fills it up; a snack is a treat). Play with it when it's bored. Clean the screen when there's a poop. Medicine when it's sick.
  4. Lights off at night. It sleeps between the bedtime and wake-up hour you set in Settings. Turn the lights off when it dozes off — a night asleep with the lights on counts against it.
  5. Answer its calls. When the bell blinks (and your phone nudges you, if notifications are on), it needs something. Half an hour is fine. Longer than that counts as a care mistake, and care mistakes decide what it grows into.

FAQ

Does it really keep going when the app is closed?

Yes. That's the whole idea. When you come back, Bichinho works out everything that happened while you were away and shows you a short summary.

Can I pause it?

No — but sleep is the next best thing. Everything slows right down while it sleeps, so a night away is fine as long as the lights are off. A full day of neglect is not.

It died. Can I get it back?

No. A Bichinho that dies is gone, like the originals. Tap NEW EGG on the screen (or use Settings → Start over with a new egg) and the next generation begins.

What decides which adult it becomes?

How many care mistakes it collected growing up. Few mistakes: Jubão. Some: Sossegado. Many: Rabugento. Each lives a different length of life.

I'm not getting notifications.

Check the Notifications toggle in the app's Settings, then check that Bichinho is allowed to notify you in iOS Settings → Notifications. Nudges are only scheduled for moments it actually needs you, so a well-fed, sleeping pet won't send any.

I reinstalled the app / switched phones and my pet is gone.

That's expected. Bichinho has no account and no cloud sync — your pet lives only on the device it hatched on.
